Laban and Margaret both grew up in Kenya. After pastoring a local church in Naivasha, Kenya for over 10 years, the Lord gave Laban the desire to pursue his education in the United States to be trained as a chaplain and attend seminary with the hope of one day returning to Kenya to minister to the people living in Naivasha. They moved to the United States in 2001.
They lived in the states for 20 years. During this time, Laban was able to receive his chaplaincy training and serve as a hospital chaplain for 17 years at Houston Methodist Hospital in Baytown, Texas. In 2013, God also graciously provided Laban with the opportunity to acquire his Masters of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
While living in Baytown and attending Rollingbrook Fellowship, Laban and Margaret met Bekah and Jacob Powell. In 2012, Laban and Margaret were able to help lead a small exploratory mission team back to Kenya to explore ways that the church could partner with the people in Naivasha.
Unbeknownst to them at the time God was joining two families together for something greater. Through many prayers and meetings, Laban and Margaret, along with the Powells, founded Mountain View Missions in 2019 and it is with MVM that Margaret and Laban were given the opportunity to return back to Naivasha in 2021 to serve as the first missionaries sent under Mountain View Missions.
Laban is currently the pastor at a local church in Naivasha where he is able to use his chaplaincy and seminary training to impact his community. Laban and Margaret work with the staff of MVM in Kenya to support the Sponsorship Program and plan short-term mission trips.
