What can you do with $30?

It won’t cover your electric bill. It definitely won’t make a dent in your grocery budget. For a family of 4, it probably doesn’t even cover the cost of one fast-food meal. 

Your money may not feel like it goes a long way at home, but $30 a month can change the trajectory of a child’s life in Naivasha, Kenya. And making a difference in the life of one child can bring lasting change for a whole community. When basic needs are met, children can thrive. 

Although the education system is considered free in Kenya, families are expected to cover many additional costs (fees, supplies, uniforms, etc.). Many families cannot afford these extra costs, causing many children to drop out of school.  Without a consistent education, children are unable to secure jobs, and the cycle of poverty continues. The need is large and at times can feel unstoppable.

By sponsoring school fees for a child in Naivasha, that child can have the opportunity to grow up in a safe and secure environment. They can get an education and the skills needed for a future job to provide for their family. 

This is what $30 can do. What seems like a little to us can make a world of difference to a child in Kenya.
